Rotoworld reports Angels bringing up SP Matt Wise from AAA. Anyone of merit? What's the dude like?

Rotoworld seems to like him, and he's been putting up good stats in the minors. I hope someone can answer this, cause I can't. My AL team is tarved for pitching, and a small endorsememnt here and I will pick him up too.

I doubt they'd give up so early on any of their starters. Wise isn't that young, seems like he'd be headed to the bullpen to me. In a very very deep league (12 AL-only teams), I'd grab him, since (1) he seems to be pitching well and (2) he seems to be the logical 6th starter when someone gets hurt.

I think Wise has terrific stuff and just needs the opportunity. I drafted him in Tout Wars and have been sitting him on reserve waiting for a callup.

I agree Byron. I followed him last year - he put up decent numbers, had a great spring this year & has been putting up solid numbers in AAA. In deep leagues he's definitely worth a flyer.

From your list Spaceman I'd make the Wise choice (ohhh that was bad ... sorry guys my backspace doesn't seem to be working ... I'll never make any Wisecracks again ... hey, stop that!!!)

I called him every name that I knew in the English language. When I ran out of names in English I started calling him names in Greek.

I like Wise too. Excellent K:BB and K/9 IP ratios at every level including his 9 starts last year with the Angels. Now he just needs to concentrate on keeping the ball in the park. None of the others on the list have the command that Wise does. Kinney is close in experience but his control isn't as good. Even though Bell has more experience in the big leagues than any of the others, I flat out don't like him pitching at Arlington where he had an ERA over 7 last year in 18 starts. Howard and Smith just don't have enough experience with only about 20 starts between the 2 of them above A ball.

I agree with Sal (love the name; Dad's all-time favorite). I spotted Wise two years ago, during a "grasp at straws" September, and got burned by a couple of those 1.2 IP, 7-run jobs, but I still like him. He puts up good numbers, and he's a couple years more experienced now. Should someone get hurt or Schoeneweis continue to get drubbed, Wise would move into the rotation.

I like Kinney, too, but not as much. Bell may be OK, now that he's a full year removed from Don Gullett, who shattered his confidence in Cincinnati, BUT look where he pitches. Smith I don't know; Howard is talented but very, very inexperienced, but he is in the NL and in a pitchers' park.
