2K6 Corey Hart - 02-05-2006, 07:30 PM

With Koskie signed word is he'll get time at 1B to see how he plays and he should also see time in the OF as a backup.

What value do you see for him in an NL only format? Seems to have some power and speed. Perhaps a 10/10 season for a few endgame $$??

Sure, although I can't imagine how his 1B defense would be. He's not that good in RF and he was given a second chance at 3B in the AFL this year and the Brewers signed Koskie instead.

Hart's worked like a dog to improve his defense, and the Brewers tried him out in CF and RF last year. I'd disagree with Moonlight some here; Yost praised Hart's defense at both positions, and has been highly complimentary of his work ethic. 3b...uh, no. He just can't play third at all.

Hart, IMO, is a lock for the 4th OF position with Krynzel's boneheaded collarbone incident, and he's probably the backup or third string 1b. I'm not sure he'll hit 10 HR, but 10-15 SBs are realistic, as he'll probably be the first pinch runner off the bench when he doesn't play. He's got some real upside, though, as Jenkins has had injury problems in the past.

I'm not so sure. I'm thinking Gross might get that spot so that Hart can play fulltime at AAA. He'll be up if someone gets injured. I suppose if Yost was comfortable with him at first and third he might eek out enough at-bats to stick with the mlb team. I do like Hart's bat and I'd be happy to see him get that bench spot but only if he's going to get enough playing time to keep developing as a player.

I could see Hart getting some playing time in place of Clark at times if he or someone else could do well leading off. Plus, Lee could be gone by the deadline, though not super likely since they might be in contention.

I don't think they'll trade Carlos Lee. Trading Lee would reverse the progress they've been making towards both contention and exciting the fans about the team. Dumping one of their best hitters (almost regardless of the players involved) would be percieved very negatively.

However, if they are out of contention and they do not plan on signing Lee who I believe is a FA at the end of the season then there is always a chance that he goes via trade.

So who will be backing up Fielder this year? Can Gross play 1B? If not, then doesnt Hart get it by default?

hasn't been discussed yet, but the Brewers have a few options. Pure speculation on my part, but I'd guess option 1 is Koskie to 1b, Hall to 3b, assuming both are healthy. Option 2 would be Hart to 1b (Yost made mention of Hart working on 1b over the winter). If Koskie and Fielder are hurt, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jenkins moved in from LF to 1b, either, and either Hart or Gross in LF.

I think that Jeff Cirillo is still on the team and figures into the backup 1b mix.

Correct. With Gross as the 4th OF and Cirillo as the backup CI, along with Hall as the general UT player, I don't see a lot of PT for Hart. That said, Jenkins is injury prone and so is Koskie, Fielder is young, and Clark could always fall off the map.

I'd expect something like 150-175 ABs to go with 6-9 steals from Hart, and maybe 6-7 HRs too. Worth a buck but not worth the $8 you'll have to pay if your league likes him as a sleeper.

Nice early predictions from bigjon and JC on Mr. Hart. Of course, we are only two-and-a-half weeks in...

Since being sent down to Nashville:

51 at-bats .353/.387/.647, 6 2b, 3 Hr, 3 SB, 13 RBI, 11 Runs.

Too soon to start a Free Corey Hart movement?

I drafted him in my draft before the season, but when he got sent down i did not have room on my farm. If ever gets playing time this year he could be a nice pickup. I will try to get him back once he is called up

Not in my book...Gabe Gross (career year) and Brady Clark...come on Brew-Crew you're playing the kids, why not this one?

Not nearly enough based on what he has done with the few he's been given.

Hopefully ole Geoffy's head is a lil woozy and we can head off the growing "Free Corey Hart" movement brewing in the underground.
