POTD 6/10 Keenan McCardell - 06-10-2005, 10:57 AM

After a lengthy holdout, McCardell was traded to the Chargers but was hampered by injuries and ended up playing 8 games. He finished with a very disappointing 31 catches for 391 yards and 1 TD. At 35, he is considered in the twilight of a solid career, but is still the best receiving option after Gates (LT not included). I think he has a renaissance of sorts, but age and health are concerns.

65 catches 800 yards 6 TD.

Everyone has a plan, until they get hit in the mouth.

I'd say that's pretty much in the ballpark. He'll provide a stablizing, veteran presence for the Chargers receiving corps. The Chargers are hoping/praying that one of Caldwell/Parker/Osgood steps up but they all have something going against them: Caldwell's injury, Parker's size (or lack therof) and Osgood's inexperience.

I think my mask of sanity is about to slip." - American Psycho

A telling tale of McCardell in SD is that Gates will outscore him. Still he is a great go to receiver for the Chargers when needed, but at best he will be the 3rd option in the passing game. Tomlinson and Gates take 1 and 2. The numbers seem good to me. If Brees gets hurt and Rivers takes it will be very interesting to see how much those numbers change.

He's the 3rd option IMO. - 06-11-2005, 03:27 PM

Parker will likely pass him as well aas Gates already being there. LT is a fine receiver as well. Marginal at best.
