Chip Caray headed to Atlanta? - 10-03-2004, 10:28 AM

With Steve Stone in the center of a controversy that could affect his future with the Cubs, broadcast partner Chip Caray may be working his last game for the team on Sunday as well. Caray, the Cubs' television play-by-play voice since 1998, is weighing an offer to join the Atlanta Braves next year, according to team and broadcast sources.

Doesn't Skip Caray already do Atlanta games? Would that be the first ever brother combo in the booth? Wouldn't it be great if they started fighting and said they were gonna tell mom on each other? This must happen.

No it wouldn't.

Chip Caray is Skip Caray's son, not brother.

It wouldn't matter anyway.

The Braves have 4 announcers and they alternate in teams of two.

Skip Caray would likely take Don Sutton's place who is rumored to go to the Dodgers to replace Ross Porter.

The match ups for Atlanta games would probably be:

Skip Carey and Pete Van Wieren
Chip Carey and Joe Simpson

Damn, foiled again!

They should still get the father-son duo in the booth at the same time though, then Skip could put his son in his place if needed.

From Ben Maller's site:

Quote:
Broadcaster Chip Caray is leaving WGN and the Cubs to join his father, Skip Caray, in the Braves' broadcast booth. Chip Caray announced on the air Sunday that he would not return to Chicago and would join his dad in Atlanta. After Caray announced on the air that he wasn't returning, his partner, Steve Stone, said "I look for better days down the road. Maybe we'll run into each other again. Who knows? It may be sooner than we think."
I know the team apparently didn't like Stone because he was well-informed, insightful, and critical this season, meaning he called the Cubs out for sucking but they didn't want to publically admit it. So they cry a river and now he may be gone too?! Wow, losing respect for the Cubbies by the second here if it plays out like this.

I tried to think of the most harmless thing. Something I loved from my childhood. Something that could never ever possibly destroy us. Mr. Stay Puft! We used to roast Stay-Puft marshmallows, by the fire, at Camp Waconda.
