Interesting deal if it is true. Valdez is a speed demon

Even though I own Koch, that wouldn't be horrible. I might be able to pick up Matt Riley at $10 which is worth taking a chance on IMO.

Just saw this on Rototimes.
06/17/04 10:30:02 PM CDT Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Florida Marlins have acquired relief pitcher Billy Koch and cash from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for minor-league infielder Wilson Valdez. The trade was announced after Florida defeated the White Sox 2-1 in 11 innings on Thursday. Koch, who is in his sixth season, is 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA and has eight saves in 11 chances this season. However, he is expected to fill a setup role for Florida, which already has veteran closer Armando Benitez. The 29-year-old Koch spent his first three years with Toronto before playing for the Oakland Athletics in 2002. For his career, he is 28-23 with a 3.91 ERA and 163 saves. Koch's best season came in 2002 when he went 11-4 and racked up a career-high 44 saves in 50 chances, but he has only 19 saves since then. http://www.rototimes.com/index.php?s...me=T0617200124 |

Unfortunately for the Sox, Manuel used to be confused about a lot more than who his closer was.

Looking at your signature and seeing how deep that league is, I would say sure, why not take a gamble. Edit to add that according to rototimes' player profile page, he will be a FA after this season. |

I assume the Fish are trying to catch lightning in a bottle again like they did last year with UUU? Not a bad move for the Marlins, but I don't understand it for the Sox. They've already got a lot of infielders and a lot of outfielders if they want to move Harris permanently to the outfield. But I guess they just wanted Koch gone?
I would bet on Takatsu getting most of the saves in CHW but having Koch out of town has to bump Marte's value anyway. I'm still not 100% sold on Mr. Zero pitching this well all season. So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again. Not to hijack this thread or anything...but does this make the possibility of the Marlins getting Beltran less likely? I would really hate to see him go to the Padres and hit at that awful hitters park.
