Tiger Woods 2003 - 02-23-2003, 07:20 PM

I have the XBox version.
I am currently having a blast with this game. My golf experiences date back to the old "Leaderboard" games from the C64 days.

This is the best golf game I've ever played . Except for a few things

Putting is tough, but is very real-to-life.

Two gripes:

1. Once you progress, it seems the CPU takes a shot, and right away you hear his heart-beat start up. "Oh, what do you know, the computer within 5 ft. again." I had to laugh when the CPU gave itself a hoe-in-one, one time.

2. When I was trying to beat the red-headed Scottish guy for the third time, he cheated. Did this happen to anyone else?
a. He drove.
b. His approach bounced to just over the green.
c. His third shot, he chipped and left it about 12 ft. away.
d. He rimmed his putt, and left it a few inches away.

Now this is where the player simply putts in, and gets his ball out of the way without waiting his turn. (Sometimes they putt it in, and sometimes they shoot it in via the Chevy Case 'pool-stick' style)

e. He actually missed this one, gave a smile to the camera, and got a four for par.

I was so sick of playing this arse, I almost threw my controller. I replayed his hole over and over to see if I was mistaken, but no, after four strokes, he still wasn't in the hole.

That was bull IMO.

Needless to say, somehow I started kicking his ass, and didn't even need to play the last four holes.

Ah, rant over. Am I the only one who has experienced this?

I'll keep playing however. It's just too addicting .

VIDEO CRACK

I haven't got as far as you Hell, as I'm having big trouble beating Mark O'Meara now.

But the game is addicting as hell. I can't stop playing it.

Tiger Woods 2003 can be had for $19.99 or less. As far as golf games go the I like best is Woods.

HTP,

The PGA tour season is much better. You get to play a full Jan - Dec tour season including the Major Championships. Tiger Challenge is back but this time it's called World Tour where you again travel around playing head to head matches trying to advance to the next stage. All of the same courses from 2003 are back with I think 14 new ones.

There's a "create a player" that allows you to , obviuosly, create your own player down to smallest detail like appearance and swing style.

There are all new scenarios and challenge games like long drive challenge. One of the coolest new features is Real Time events. When you update your PS2 (or Xbox) console's date, there are scenarios and events which can only be played that day.

Also, you can earn sponsorships from Adidas, Calloway, Cleveland, & many more which earn you money to buy attributes, equipment & apparel, etc. I think that may be the coolest new feature. You can use the money you've earned to buy a ton of different types of clubs you can then use. Overall, just a lot of fun to play. All of the best features of 2003 with a ton of new, fun stuff added.

Edit: only "bad" thing is that the Master's isn't called the Master's and isn't played at Augusta. Copyright situation I'm sure. Not a surprise that the powers at be at Augusta wouldn't sign on to be a part of the Tiger Woods franchise game.

I agree, this is a fantastic game. I bought it when it first came out last yr and have not played in a while (I get sick of games kind of quickly) but it is the best golf game, maybe ever. When I was playing, I fccused on the Tiger Challenge. As I recall, I got all the way to the last match -- vs. Super Tiger, but didn't beat him in several tries. Maybe this will inspire me to give it another shot.

Just bought Soul Caliber II (for Xbox) and have been playing a lot. If you like to whoop some ass and not think much, its a great game in the tradition of Mortal Kombat-type games.
