AL - Johnson for Baltimore would be one I'd roster. Sherrill's definitely of interest to a lot of teams, and all the other potential closers in Baltimore are hurt or have had major meltdowns.

Since I just got Qualls as part of a trade, it stands to reason that he'll be traded.

beware the peripherals re Rauch - not the same pitcher anymore

ok spec for dumb cheap SV, but you'd better have a little ERA/Ratio leeway, he's asking for a market correction last I looked...

three straight rough outings for Fuentes... if he's hurt or gets demoted who gets the the first crack? Bulger, Speier, Oliver or Palmer?

Whoever they get in a waiver deal, I guess.

If they stay in-house, I like a Bulger/Oliver platoon, but I suspect Scioscia would try Speier first for his "veteran presence".

Rotoworld:
A source has informed Adam Rubin of the New York Daily News that the Mets plan to seek trade partners for Billy Wagner as he nears his return.
Wagner has been out all season following September Tommy John surgery. He's set to make $10.5 million next year, so it should be easy to pass him through waivers if a trade partner is willing to take on the salary. He's about 10 days from beginning a rehab assignment. Source: New York Daily News Aug. 7 - 8:50 am et

ETA:
According to Cots Wagner is a FA at the end of the season if the Mets decline the club option, so I think Rotoworld is wrong.

# 4 years/$43M (2006-09), plus 2010 club option

* signed by Mets as a free agent 11/05
* complete no-trade clause
* 06:$10.5M, 07:$10.5M, 08:$10.5M, 09:$10.5M,
10:$8M club option ($1M buyout)

So where is the updated list of closers/backups? The first page hasn't been updated all season. Is it buried somewhere in here?

Who closes in MN if Nathan misses serious time?

TheInsidePitch says Guerrier, but his K rate isn't anything to write home about, but neither is Rauch's WHIP. I guess there is always a chance Neshek or Mijares could play into it.

MLB Headlines

Lidge (elbow) placed back on disabled list

Phillies placed RHP Brad Lidge on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 10, with right elbow inflammation.

The saga continues. Lidge opened the season on the DL and has made only four appearances since being activated in late April. Now it's back to rehabbing for the right-hander, who has been neither healthy nor effective for over a year. Jose Contreras earned his first save of the season (and first of his career) Saturday. He should continue to get chances. May. 15 - 8:05 pm et

Geesh, Contreras is older than Mrs Judge and yet he just earned his first career SV today.

Awesome play in free-churn mixed leagues, not so much in no-bench, limited-dump NL-only leagues.

Adjust accordingly..........
