If they stay in-house, I like a Bulger/Oliver platoon, but I suspect Scioscia would try Speier first for his "veteran presence". It is impossible to defeat an ignorant man in argument. -William G. Rotoworld:
A source has informed Adam Rubin of the New York Daily News that the Mets plan to seek trade partners for Billy Wagner as he nears his return. Wagner has been out all season following September Tommy John surgery. He's set to make $10.5 million next year, so it should be easy to pass him through waivers if a trade partner is willing to take on the salary. He's about 10 days from beginning a rehab assignment. Source: New York Daily News Aug. 7 - 8:50 am et ETA: According to Cots Wagner is a FA at the end of the season if the Mets decline the club option, so I think Rotoworld is wrong. # 4 years/$43M (2006-09), plus 2010 club option * signed by Mets as a free agent 11/05 * complete no-trade clause * 06:$10.5M, 07:$10.5M, 08:$10.5M, 09:$10.5M, 10:$8M club option ($1M buyout) |

Brad Lidge with a cortisone shot in his elbow...team expects him back mid-late April. Hello Mr. Madson...
You'd be surprised on how much 16 months in a federal pen can motivate you - gashousegang 7-31-06 * - Heyelander's VD XII avatar analysis - SeaDogStat ...That said, the hippo will always be the gold standard here 1-29-07 It's surprising that attempts to coordinate large groups of socially retarded people would end in this kind of chaos. - Cobain's Ghost 12-19-07 |

MLB Headlines
Lidge (elbow) placed back on disabled list Phillies placed RHP Brad Lidge on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 10, with right elbow inflammation. The saga continues. Lidge opened the season on the DL and has made only four appearances since being activated in late April. Now it's back to rehabbing for the right-hander, who has been neither healthy nor effective for over a year. Jose Contreras earned his first save of the season (and first of his career) Saturday. He should continue to get chances. May. 15 - 8:05 pm et |

Geesh, Contreras is older than Mrs Judge and yet he just earned his first career SV today.
Awesome play in free-churn mixed leagues, not so much in no-bench, limited-dump NL-only leagues. Adjust accordingly..........
