Worst Sequel Ever

Caddyshack II: What an abortion!

Randy Quaid had some decent lines but this movie makes me physically ill to think about how they butchered the memory of an American classic.

Thoughts?

Agreed.

I'd also nominate Weekend at Bernie's II.

ezeagle 09-21-2005 08:26 PM

Cheaper by the dozen.
Over the Top.
Mrs. Doubtfire.

Just to name a few

These were sequels?

And how can you say Mrs Doubtfire was bad? You know how much Bald Eagle loves that movie.

Electric Boogaloo: Breakin' 2.....this one really killed the franchise.

Oh, come on, I was in tears when Turbo, Ozone and Kelly saved the rec center with their dance-a-thon

yep

I think sequals that are made long after the original typically are the worst......like Blues Brothers 2000 & Son of the Mask.

Speed 2 sucked, and Fletch Lives could have been a heck of a lot better......

I think I enjoy Fletch Lives almost as much as the original. But you'r definitely right on the others.

Vegas Vacation, anyone?

BTW, did you know there is a Christmas Vacation 2 that is out there? It centers around Cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid) and his brrod. I don't think I will ever be able to get myself to rent that. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367623/

Thankfully I was warned not to watch Caddyshack II so I've never seen it.

'Caddyshack II' was exactly what I thought of when I saw the title of this thread.

'2010' and 'Jaws II' were other misguided pieces of crap. And then there's 'Godfather III'. And the 2 'Back To The Future' sequels, neither of which I've been able to sit through.

gashousegang 09-21-2005 11:26 PM

Worst Sequels ever?

Some ideas....

Color of Money

Rocky 5

Jaws the revenge

Batman & Robin (Joel Schumacher, Val Kilmer & Chris O' Donnell ugh!)

Star Wars Episode 1 ( I still cringe at the thought of listening to Jar Jar Binks throughout the whole movie).

PS I aslo agree with Speed 2 (I didnt think it was possible to downgrade from Keanu, but they pulled it off). And Caddyshack II (Absolutely terrible).

eldiablo505 09-21-2005 11:36 PM

I just saw Cube Zero yesterday. A pretty spectacular piece of crap sequel to a halfway decent movie. The Cube wasn't an Academy worthy movie, but at least it didn't make me want to kill the actors like Cube Zero did. Bad bad.

umjewboy 09-22-2005 12:30 AM

For some reason, I saw Caddyshack II first when I was younger, and thought it was very funny. That lasted for a long time, until I finally saw the original, and now realize how it is vastly superior to the sequel.

However, all that being said, I think there are enough funny lines (albeit not THAT many) in Caddyshack II to remove it from consideration as the worst sequel ever. I think something like Rocky V, or the inevitable Rocky VI that has been discussed have to be considered far far worse.

Actually saw Christmas Vacation 2 because NBC aired it one year although I dont think it was the release year. Terrible movie

I have to say this is just crazy talk. That movie was almost perfect.

My submissions would have to be Rocky 5, Temple of Doom, When Harry Met Lloyd and Force 10 from Navarone

(Best sequals are probably Spiderman II, Bride of Frankenstein, GF II, Empire Strikes Back, the sequalish LOTRs - I'm sure I am forgetting some)

AWESOME

Clams 09-22-2005 10:09 AM

As bad as Jaws 2 was, what about Jaws 3? That was horrible.

Bogart 09-22-2005 10:26 AM

Color of Money was amazing. Total stop-down for me when it is on.

And for the record, what was so great about Caddyshack?
